About The Weight of the Fox Valley
Healthy People. Healthy Communities.
Weight of the Fox Valley (WOTFV) envisions a community where healthy eating and active living are the norm, and all people have an opportunity to live healthy, achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and avoid a life of chronic disease. This will happen through collaboration and commitment from many diverse and influential partners and community members, working together to create a culture of health in Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago Counties of Wisconsin.
Currently, more than 75% of residents in the Fox Valley are overweight or obese. It’s time to band together and get the health of our community back on track.

What we're doing to change the story:
Weight of the Fox Valley focuses on the most impactful work, with initiatives that are proven, realistic, sustainable, championed by our partners, and have a broad reach, focusing on those with the greatest need.
Changing the story together
The three county initiative is served by a strong Leadership
Team from over 25 organizations representing healthcare, government, business, education, non-profit, retail, and philanthropic sectors.
Collaborating to track results
Ascension, Aurora, and ThedaCare healthcare systems are collaborating to collect and track key health indicators including body mass index to inform the program and track progress.
Why should this health issue be so important to our community?
Being overweight impacts both the individual and our entire community, bringing physical, social, psychological and economic consequences to both individuals and communities.
To date, our Action Teams have engaged individuals from over 50 partner organizations and the community.
The Action Team members are working together on strategies based on the Wisconsin Nutrition, Physical Activity & Obesity State Plan.
Active Communities: To increase residents’ physical activity by providing more opportunities to be active in the community.
Early Care & Education: To increase healthy eating and physical activity by children in the early care setting.
Worksites: To increase access to and participation in worksite wellness programs for Fox Valley employees.
Food System: To create and support a sustainable, healthy food system through policy and environmental change.
School: to increase healthy eating and physical activity by children in the school setting.
Healthcare: To optimize healthcare systems and providers to augment prevention efforts and incorporate obesity prevention with treatment and care.
Each Action Team will find and implement ways to create a healthier, more active and more nutritious environment in their focus area. These collective efforts will ultimately create a community where healthy living is the norm. To learn more about our action teams, click here.

Three health systems collaborate to collect BMI data – a first-of-its-kind achievement.
Through a first-of-its-kind data system, Affinity Health System, Aurora Health Care, and ThedaCare are working together to share electronic anonymous health data. The goal is to use objective data to easily identify progress, track success, and spot opportunities for improvement. This break-through collaboration will allow Weight of the Fox Valley to chart progress in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight at every age.
