About The Weight of the Fox Valley
Promoting Healthy Weight in Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties
Weight of the Fox Valley (WOTFV) is a community health initiative designed to address active lifestyles and healthy habits among Fox Valley residents to reach and maintain a healthy weight.
Community Need, Community Response
Currently, more than 60% of residents in the Fox Valley are overweight or obese. It’s time to band together and get the health of our community back on track.
Why should this health issue be so important to our community? Being overweight impacts both the individual and our entire community, bringing physical, social, psychological and economic consequences to both individuals and communities.

Calumet County – Health and Human services,
More than Weight Loss
With a vision of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight for all, Weight of the Fox Valley sees Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago County residents doing more than losing weight. Weight of the Fox Valley will work to inspire residents to adopt healthy lifestyles that can aid in disease prevention.
To achieve its vision, Weight of the Fox Valley has adopted an innovative approach to creating social change called collective impact.
Collective impact works by creating a shared approach to solving a community problem. Organizations from all sectors of the community participate to focus existing and new, collaborative efforts on achieving the vision. Participating organizations share a vision, activities, outcomes, data and more!
Weight of the Fox Valley has adopted the Wisconsin Nutrition, Physical Activity & Obesity State Plan settings:
- Active Communities
- Early Care & Education
- Food System
On June 5, 2014, Weight of the Fox Valley launched the Active Communities and Worksite action teams. In 2015, Weight of the Fox Valley plans to add Early Care & Education and Food Systems into the planning phases. School and Healthcare will then follow.
Each Action Team will find and implement ways to create a healthier, more active and more nutritious environment in their focus area. These collective efforts will ultimately create a community where healthy living is the norm.
If you wish to join one of the Action Teams, please contact us.
Innoviative Approach to Metrics
Three health systems collaborate to collect BMI data – a first-of-its-kind achievement.
Through a first-of-its-kind data system, Affinity Health System, Aurora Health Care, and ThedaCare are working together to share electronic anonymous health data. The goal is to use objective data to easily identify progress, track success, and spot opportunities for improvement. This break-through collaboration will allow Weight of the Fox Valley to chart progress in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight at every age.
