About The Weight of the Fox Valley

Healthy People. Healthy Communities.

Weight of the Fox Valley (WOTFV) envisions a community where healthy eating and active living are the norm, and all people have an opportunity to live healthy, achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and avoid a life of chronic disease. This will happen through collaboration and commitment from many diverse and influential partners and community members, working together to create a culture of health in Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago Counties of Wisconsin.

Currently, more than 75% of residents in the Fox Valley are overweight or obese. It’s time to band together and get the health of our community back on track.

What we're doing to change the story:

Weight of the Fox Valley focuses on the most impactful work, with initiatives that are proven, realistic, sustainable, championed by our partners, and have a broad reach, focusing on those with the greatest need.

Changing the story together
The three county initiative is served by a strong Leadership
Team from over 25 organizations representing healthcare, government, business, education, non-profit, retail, and philanthropic sectors.

Collaborating to track results
Ascension, Aurora, and ThedaCare healthcare systems are collaborating to collect and track key health indicators including body mass index to inform the program and track progress.

Why should this health issue be so important to our community?

Being overweight impacts both the individual and our entire community, bringing physical, social, psychological and economic consequences to both individuals and communities.

Innovative Approach to Metrics

Three health systems collaborate to collect BMI data – a first-of-its-kind achievement.

Through a first-of-its-kind data system, Affinity Health SystemAurora Health Care, and ThedaCare are working together to share  electronic  anonymous health data. The goal is to use objective data to easily identify progress, track success, and spot opportunities for improvement. This break-through collaboration will allow Weight of the Fox Valley to chart progress in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight at every age.
