Weight of The Fox Valley Resolution
Local governments within Calumet Outagamie & Winnebago tri-county region, have voted to support a resolution that brings awareness to the shared vision of Weight of the Fox Valley: A community that together achieves and maintains a healthy weight at every age.
There is growing evidence that moderate physical activity can significantly improve the health of the community by lowering the risk of diseases associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Regular physical activity can help with weight control and improve academic achievement in students.
The resolution also supports the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan which seeks to increase physical activity and enhance safe and convenient walking and bicycle routes to destinations via a well inter-connected transportation network.
The resolution provides recognition that as we plan infrastructure improvements “health and well-being” will be taken into consideration. By integrating health into community planning and improvement conversations, we will be supportive of residents becoming physically active in their day to day activities.
